Kullu: The Una district administration has ordered a probe into suspected irregularities in the Sugam Darshan system at Chintpurni temple. The police have also registered a case and launched a separate inquiry.In a statement, deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal said that additional deputy commissioner (ADC), Una, has been appointed to conduct a detailed administrative inquiry and submit a report within seven days. The probe will examine records, fix responsibility and recommend procedural and administrative reforms to prevent similar incidents in future. According to the Temple Trust, the suspected irregularity came to light on July 19, prompting immediate registration of an FIR and the constitution of a three-member inquiry committee. Staff handling the Sugam Darshan system were also replaced to ensure transparency. A preliminary technical audit found a mismatch in the software records for July 19. While only 23 genuine transactions were recorded, the system displayed 88 transactions, said the statement. Prima facie, the discrepancy is suspected to have resulted from the unauthorised misuse of software login credentials. However, the exact cause would be established only after completion of the technical investigation, added the statement. Meanwhile, the Temple Trust has clarified that the Sugam Darshan fee is a service charge and not a temple donation or offering. Since the facility was introduced in 2023, it has generated over Rs 12 crore, which has been used for improving pilgrim amenities and welfare activities.
