T’puram: Four youths were killed in a motorcycle accident near a govt hospital at Uzhamalakkal on the Aryanad–Nedumangad road on Sunday night.The deceased were identified as Kulappada natives Sreelal (25), Rajesh (21) and Binoy (21), and Paruthikkuzhi native Abhinav (21).According to police, Rajesh and Binoy were travelling on one motorcycle while Sreelal and Abhinav were riding another. The accident occurred around 11pm.Two of them died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital. Abhinav, who was critically injured, was admitted to Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram, but died on Monday morning.Preliminary investigations suggest that both motorcycles were travelling at high speed. Due to the impact of the collision, motorcycles reportedly skidded to the sides of the road. All four riders were thrown onto the road and suffered severe head injuries.Police also said that Sreelal was accused in a case registered under the Kaapa at Aryanad police station.Fire and rescue services personnel reached the spot and cleared debris and bloodstains from the road following the accident. Both motorcycles involved in the crash were completely destroyed due to the impact.The bodies were handed over to the families after the autopsy.“CCTV footage from the locality will be examined to ascertain exact cause of the accident,” police said. Aryanad police registered a case and further probe is under way.
