Koraput: Malkangiri district police seized 503 kg of ganja and arrested two alleged traffickers from UP after intercepting a truck near Champakhari village on Tuesday night. The police team was conducting a night patrol near Champakhari when they noticed a truck speeding through the area. Suspecting foul play, the team intercepted the vehicle and carried out a thorough search, recovering 503 kg of ganja.The two arrested accused were identified as Kamal Hasan and Bilal, both residents of Sahapur village under Gujaraul police station in Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh. They were produced before a local court and remanded to judicial custody.Preliminary investigation revealed that the consignment had allegedly been arranged with the assistance of Dipankar Haldar of MPV-11 village, Sourav Mallick of MV-104 village and Jagannath Biswas of MPV-13 village, all under Kalimela police limits in Malkangiri district. The trio allegedly helped transport the contraband to the Chintur area for its onward movement.Police further suspect that the truck owner, Rohit Prajapati, played a key role in facilitating the transportation by persuading the local associates to participate in the smuggling operation.
