Vadodara: A weekend outing turned into a tragedy for a family from Vadodara’s Tandalja area after two brothers, aged seven and nine, drowned in the swimming pool of a resort near Umeta-Manpura on Sunday morning in Anand district. The deceased have been identified as Hamza and Noman Siddiqui, who had gone to Kamdhenu Resort with their family on Saturday. The family, comprising six members, had reportedly booked room no. 112 at the resort.According to relatives, the family was having breakfast at around 10 am when the two children apparently went towards the swimming pool. The pool is located around 150-200 feet from the resort’s canteen. Within a short time, the family members realised that the boys were missing and noticed their clothes near the swimming pool. The family members raised an alarm, rushed towards the pool and pulled out the duo. Moin Siddiqui, the elder brother of the deceased, told the media that the family immediately sought help after discovering the children in the pool. He alleged that there was no vehicle available at the resort to take the children to a hospital and that no staff member, including the manager, was present. The family therefore used their own vehicle to rush the children to a hospital. After being denied admission at a facility, they took the boys to Anklav govt hospital, where doctors declared both children dead on arrival. The incident left the family members in a state of shock, as the brothers had been enjoying a weekend outing with their relatives just a few hours before the tragedy.Anklav police reached the spot and began an investigation into circumstances surrounding the drowning. Police officials are expected to examine the safety arrangements at the resort, including the swimming pool, supervision arrangements and the availability of emergency assistance at the premises.
