Vadodara: Acting on a tip-off, city police’s special operations group (SOG) on Friday seized 1,920 bottles of codeine-based cough syrup, worth Rs 22.58 lakh, from a shop in a commercial complex on Samta Road and booked its owner for allegedly storing the stock without a licence.Investigators identified the shop owner as Aakash Thakur. An FIR has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.Police said Thakur did not have the licence required to store or sell the cough syrup. The stock has been seized and further investigation is under way.
