Akola: A dispute over access to a farm road turned fatal in Nimbi Malokar village, around 10km from Akola city, after a youth was allegedly shot dead in the agricultural fields on Sunday evening.As per preliminary information, six rounds were fired at the victim, Amol Gajanan Malokar. So far, three bullet injury marks have been found on his back and below the ear. Amol died on the spot, said police.Sources in police said the alleged assailant fled from the spot. Four police teams have been formed to trace the suspect.The victim’s family alleged that one of their relatives opened fire following a dispute over the farm road. Police are investigating the exact circumstances leading to the murder.Akola superintendent of police Archit Chandak told TOI that police teams reached the spot immediately after receiving information. A forensic team collected physical and ballistic evidence. Police are examining the bullet marks, cartridges and other evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events, said sources.The incident triggered panic in the village and surrounding area. Balapur police are in the process of registering a murder case. Police are also trying to identify the firearm used in the incident and determine the exact number of shots fired.
