T’puram: A 26-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly vandalizing a newly opened restaurant in Kollam district after an argument with its staff, police said.The accused, identified as Ajmal of Thevalakkara, allegedly damaged the reception counter and other property at Mandi Manzil restaurant in Karunagappally. The incident occurred after he reportedly got into a heated argument with restaurant staff.According to Karunagapally police, the dispute escalated quickly, following which Ajmal allegedly threw objects and damaged furniture and other fixtures inside the eatery. The staff immediately alerted the owner, who informed police. Officers reached the spot and took the accused into custody.During questioning, Ajmal reportedly claimed that he attacked the restaurant because he had been treated badly during an earlier visit and wanted revenge. However, the restaurant owner rejected the claim, pointing out that the establishment had opened only a week ago, making the allegation baseless.Police have registered a case against the accused and launched a probe.
