Mor Theophilos Kuriakose, the Metropolitan-designate of the newly formed Thiruvananthapuram region of the Jacobite Church

T’puram: Mor Theophilos Kuriakose, the Metropolitan-designate of the newly formed Thiruvananthapuram region of the Jacobite Church, on Tuesday said that if the dispute between the two factions of the Malankara Church remains unresolved, it would amount to injustice to future generations.Addressing reporters, Mor Kuriakose said matters of faith should be resolved through dialogue and consensus, rather than through courts. Jacobite Church had been pursuing this approach over the years, but it could not be completed, he added.“There is still scope for a solution. Jacobite Church has always kept the doors open for talks. We are ready for any discussion initiated by anyone,” Mor Kuriakose said. Church’s stand was that the litigation and disputes should end and both churches should be recognized separately and allowed to move forward, he added.Meanwhile, the installation of Mor Kuriakose as Metropolitan will be held at 5pm on Wednesday at St Peter’s Cathedral on Punnan Road. Catholicos Baselios Joseph Bava will be the chief celebrant, with other metropolitans as co-celebrants.A felicitation meeting will follow, with the chief minister, ministers, elected representatives, bishops, religious, political, social and cultural figures expected to attend. The new region covers Thiruvananthapuram and nearby areas.
