Thiruvananthapuram: Cantonment police arrested another accused in connection with the assault on police officers who intervened in a public nuisance incident in Thampanoor.The arrested was identified as Sibin alias Kichamani, 19, of Rajaji Nagar. He is an accused in the Cantonment police station case. The incident occurred on the night of March 22, when police officers Grade ASI Sreejith and civil police officer Ashiq responded to reports of a group shouting obscenities and creating a disturbance on the road near Muthumariamman temple in Thampanoor. The accused allegedly attacked the officers, when they asked the group to disperse. The officers were assaulted by Sibin, along with Abhiram and Suraj, all natives of Rajaji Nagar. Police earlier arrested Suraj in connection with the case, and he is currently in judicial remand. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining accused, Abhiram, who is absconding. Sibin was taken into custody by Cantonment police and later produced before a court, which remanded him in judicial custody. Police said further investigation is in progress and more arrests are likely.
