T’puram: A 76-year-old pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car at Thycaud in Venjaramoodu on Sunday morning.The deceased has been identified as D Samuel, of Samananagar, Venjaramoodu. According to police, the accident occurred when Samuel was attempting to cross the road at Samananagar. A car travelling from Pothencode side allegedly struck him, throwing him off the road. Locals shifted him to govt medical college hospital Thiruvananthapuram. However, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem examination. The cremation was completed at his native place. Police said a case has been registered and further investigation is under way. Samuel is survived by his wife Kamalabai and children Robert Sam, Helen Kumari and Drummond Sam.tnn
