Nagpur: A 23-year-old youth from Kalamna died by suicide by hanging at his residence on Monday after repeated quarrels on the phone with his girlfriend, police said.The deceased, Prem Shukla, lived with his family on Bharatwada Road. His father, Anil Prasad Shukla, a security supervisor, told police that Prem had been in a relationship with a 20-year-old woman for four years.According to the father’s statement, Prem was a heavy drinker and smoker. He used to frequently fight with his girlfriend on the phone. The family asked the young woman to block Prem’s number. Every time the woman blocked his number, Prem persuaded her to unblock it in a few days.After the woman blocked his number again, Prem hanged himself, police said. He was rushed to Mayo Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Kalamna police registered an accidental death case and sent the body for postmortem. No foul play has been alleged so far.
