Kanpur: A youth sustained a serious head injury after being allegedly assaulted by nearly half a dozen men inside a restaurant in the Hanumant Vihar police station area on Wednesday night. The attack, which was captured on the restaurant’s CCTV camera, also left his friend injured when he tried to intervene. Police have identified several accused and launched an investigation.According to police, around 10.30 pm, the youth, Roshan, had gone to the restaurant to meet his friend when one of the accused allegedly snatched his mobile phone. When he asked for it back, the accused started abusing him. After he protested, nearly half a dozen youths surrounded him and began assaulting him.Hanumant Vihar police station in-charge Rajiv Kumar said, “The victim has filed a complaint. Based on the CCTV footage installed in the restaurant, Siddharth Dwivedi alias Pasa, Simpy Pandey, Aditya Dhamaniya, Chhotu and Pranshu Tiwari, along with other accused, have been identified.”
