Silchar: Dholai police in Assam’s Cachar district seized yaba tablets worth over Rs 30 crore during an operation on Saturday evening.Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police intercepted a truck parked along the Dholai-Lailapur road at Arzanpur. During a thorough search, officers discovered a concealed chamber inside the vehicle, from which 11 large packets wrapped in black polythene were recovered. Each packet contained 10,000 tablets, taking the total haul to 1.10 lakh yaba tablets, police sources said.

Besides the contraband, two number plates and two mobile phones were also recovered from inside the truck. Investigators suspect that the number plates may not be original and could have been used to evade law enforcement agencies.Officials said traffickers are increasingly using modified heavy vehicles fitted with secret compartments to transport narcotics undetected. “The recovery clearly indicates a new modus operandi adopted by drug syndicates to bypass security checks,” a senior officer said.A case has been registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
