Patna: The state govt is planning to set up a World Trade Centre in Patna as part of a broader redevelopment and urban infrastructure push, CM Samrat Choudhary said during a review meeting on the comprehensive development of the state capital on Thursday.The proposal was presented by the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), which also submitted plans for redeveloping govt land parcels opposite Bihar Museum on Nehru Path (Bailey Road), as well as sites in Gardanibagh, Bhootnath Road (Sector-6) and Boring Canal Road.According to the proposal, projects worth around Rs 4,000 crore are expected to be developed in Patna, generating an estimated revenue of Rs 8,000 crore. NBCC will prepare models for construction and redevelopment of these identified sites.Choudhary said old and dilapidated govt buildings would be replaced through reconstruction or fresh construction, wherever required. The meeting also discussed identifying suitable govt land in Gaya, Bhagalpur, Begusarai and Darbhanga for integrated development plans and optimal utilisation of public assets.The deputy CM stressed the adoption of modern technology, environmental standards and a zero-waste model in all construction activities. He directed officials to prioritise projects aimed at transforming Patna into a modern, world-class city and termed the proposal for redevelopment of govt land parcels a welcome step.He also asked officials to prepare an action plan for the development and redevelopment of townships spread across nearly 2,000 acres in proposed Pataliputra Township and another 1,000 acres in other townships.The meeting was attended by urban development and housing department minister Nitish Mishra, chief secretary Pratyaya Amrit, senior state govt officials, and NBCC chairman K P Mahadeva Swamy, among others.
