Patna: A woman was arrested for allegedly murdering her husband in Nawada district on Sunday. The victim’s body was recovered from a farm field at Darawan village under Kawkole police station area late Saturday night.Police identified the deceased as Omkar Kumar (50), originally from Aadha village in Jamui district. He had later settled in Darawan with his family. He is survived by his wife and two children.According to police, villagers spotted the body in the field and informed the local police. Foam was seen around Kumar’s mouth, raising suspicion that he may have been poisoned. Based on preliminary inquiry, police detained Kumar’s wife, Manju Devi, for questioning. She was later arrested in connection with the case.Kawkole SHO Anil Kumar Singh said an FIR was registered on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Chitranjan Kumar, a resident of Aadha village. The complainant alleged that Omkar was poisoned to death. The FIR names four accused, including Manju.“During the investigation, Manju allegedly attempted to mislead the police. She has been sent to judicial custody, while raids are underway to arrest the remaining accused,” the SHO said.An FSL team visited the spot and collected evidence. The body was sent to Nawada Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.“The exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem and forensic reports are received. Preliminary findings suggest that the victim may have been poisoned and the body dumped in the field to destroy evidence. An alleged extramarital relationship is also being examined as a possible motive. Further action will be taken based on the forensic findings,” Singh added.
