Patna: Health minister Nishant Kumar made his legislative debut after celebrating his 45th birthday and participated in the proceedings of the legislative council on the first day of the monsoon session on Monday.“This is my first day. Please forgive me if I have made any mistakes. Let us perform better in the House and work as a team. I would like to urge the youth to uphold the dignity of the House when they come here. Over the past 20 years, our govt has worked for everyone. We must take Bihar forward under the leadership of Samrat Chaudhary ji,” Nishant said.Nishant, who visited the Mahavir Mandir near Patna Junction with his father and former CM Nitish Kumar in the morning, participated in the proceedings of the state legislature. Members from both the ruling coalition and the opposition extended their birthday greetings to him.Nishant said the NDA govt has worked across all sectors, including education, health, and employment, over the past 20 years. “The govt has worked for dalits, mahadalits, backward and extremely backward classes, workers, youth, and women. Over these two decades, Bihar has emerged as an example for the country and the world—be it women’s empowerment, liquor prohibition, Jeevika initiative, or the ‘Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali’ campaign,” he said.The health minister said he would try to raise issues of general public in the House. “I will strive to uphold the dignity and decorum of the House. I will attempt to present matters in the House that resonate with the public,” he said.Referring to his father’s long tenure as Bihar CM, Nishant said the current govt led by CM Samrat would carry forward the work accomplished by Nitish over the past 20 years. He also said the govt would work in the same direction, with a continued emphasis on providing better amenities to the public.Talking about his dept, Nishant said efforts were underway to provide superior healthcare facilities to the state’s residents through the hard work of the department’s officials and staff. He said the govt would continue to focus on further strengthening health services in the future. Nishant affirmed that the NDA govt in Bihar would proceed under the guidance of former CM Nitish Kumar and the leadership of CM Samrat Choudhary.
