COIMBATORE: A 58-year-old woman was found murdered at her home near Pappanaickenpalayam in the city on Wednesday night.The murdered woman has been identified as K Shanthi of Karuppukkal Thottam in Pappanaickenpalayam. After her husband’s death, she lived with her son, K Raja, who is working in a lathe workshop. Shanthi worked as a cook at the residence of a doctor in the area. Her daughter, Amudha, is married and living in Palakkad.On Wednesday morning, Raja went to work. Later, Shanthi too went to work and returned in the afternoon. As she did not step outside after that, neighbours went to check on her and found her lying in a pool of blood. They alerted police.The Race Course police arrived at the scene. They found that Shanthi had suffered four severe head injuries from a heavy attack. Police recovered the body and sent it to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for postmortem. A forensic team, aided by a sniffer dog, inspected the area and gathered evidence.Police investigation revealed that no jewellery or cash had been stolen from the house. Police registered a case and began investigations.
