Vadodara: Police on Thursday arrested a 21-year-old woman for allegedly stealing gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 5.15 lakh from her uncle’s house in the city. The woman, identified as Shreya Singh, was arrested along with her boyfriend, Deepak Vasava, who was allegedly involved in the theft.According to police, Singh lived with her uncle in a residential colony in the Laxmipura area. In June, a burglary was reported at her uncle’s house, following which a complaint was registered at Gorwa police station.During the investigation, police learnt that Singh had allegedly stolen gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 5.15 lakh from the house. She was questioned and allegedly confessed to the crime.Police said Singh told them that she and Vasava needed money to spend on themselves and wanted to live a luxurious lifestyle. The duo allegedly mortgaged the stolen gold at a bank and obtained cash.
