NEW DELHI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rain at isolated places across several states on Monday, with Odisha likely to see heavy to very heavy rainfall.Heavy rain is also likely over parts of the Northeast, central India, eastern India and southern India.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over parts of the country, while strong surface winds are expected over parts of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

IMD forecast for Monday

Heavy rain is likely at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, coastal Karnataka, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Vidarbha, West Bengal and Sikkim.Odisha may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places.Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely over parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.Thunderstorms with gusty winds are also possible over Bihar, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Odisha, Telangana, West Bengal and Sikkim, while lightning is likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Uttarakhand.

North India rain forecast

Uttarakhand is likely to receive heavy rain on Monday, with rainfall expected to continue through Friday. Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely in isolated areas.East Uttar Pradesh is likely to see fairly widespread rainfall through Tuesday, while Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad may see scattered to fairly widespread rain over the coming days.Himachal Pradesh is likely to receive scattered rain through Friday.

Central India forecast

Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive heavy rain on Monday, with fairly widespread rainfall expected through Wednesday.Vidarbha may see heavy rain on Monday, while Chhattisgarh is likely to receive heavy rain through Friday. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Chhattisgarh on Monday.Thunderstorms with lightning are likely over parts of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.

Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha weather

Bihar is likely to see heavy rain on Monday, with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds also possible.Jharkhand is likely to receive heavy rain, while Odisha may see heavy to very heavy rainfall on Monday. Very heavy rain is likely to continue over Odisha through Friday.

Northeast under heavy rain watch

Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya are likely to receive heavy rain on Monday. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may also see heavy showers.Heavy rain is expected to continue across the Northeast over the coming days, with isolated heavy rainfall likely across these areas through Friday.

West India forecast

Konkan and Goa are likely to continue receiving fairly widespread to widespread rainfall through Friday.Gujarat, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Saurashtra and Kutch may see scattered rain over the coming days.

South India rain forecast

IMD’s latest forecast for the next few days

Rainfall activity is expected to remain active across several parts of the country through Friday.Odisha is likely to see very heavy rain through Friday, while heavy rainfall is expected to continue over parts of the Northeast, central India, Uttarakhand and southern India.
