A 69-year-old woman’s home revealed bags of coins and notes.

MANDYA: A striking pile of gunny bags filled with coins and currency notes has emerged from the home of a 69-year-old woman in Mandya, who had spent years begging on the city’s streets and traffic circles.The bags contained coins of different denominations and assorted currency notes that Noor had quietly saved over the years. Her bank deposits, when added to the cash and coins kept at home, took her total savings to Rs 8.40 lakh.Noor, a resident of Sabdariyabad Mohalla on Guttalu Road, lived alone in her own house. She died of age-related ailments on Wednesday.After her death, family members and local residents performed her last rites. It was only later, when the money stored in several bags at her home was counted and her bank balance was checked, that the extent of her savings came to light.The visuals show the remarkable collection — gunny bags packed with coins, along with notes of different denominations — that Noor had accumulated through years of begging.Police said no case had been registered as Noor died of natural causes.
