MANGALURU: Five students were injured after a wall collapsed during a gathering at Rama Laxminarayan Convention Hall here on Saturday, police said. The injured were admitted to Highland Hospital.One of the injured, 16-year-old Mohammed Shamaj, was shifted to the intensive care unit and was in critical condition, hospital authorities said. The other injured were identified as Mohammed Shanan Ahmed (18), Haneef (23), Dawood Farsin Ahmed (18) and Mohammed Shakeel Hussain (18).According to police, a large number of students had gathered at the venue for a programme related to the ceremony of office-bearers of the college student union. With the venue overcrowded, some students were standing in a corridor and reportedly leaned against a wall.The wall, which was apparently weak, collapsed, causing several students to fall and sustain injuries.Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the collapse.
