Patna: Urban development and housing department will conduct stricter verification of documents submitted by bidders before finalising tenders, with minister Nitish Mishra directing officials to fix responsibility for any irregularities found in the process.Mishra said all documents submitted by bidders must be thoroughly examined and verified before a tender is finalised. He said the tender process should be transparent, fair and accountable at every stage. The minister said bidders are declared successful or unsuccessful only after scrutiny of their documents. However, if a complaint is received after a tender has been finalised and the documents submitted by the successful bidder are later found to be forged, action should be taken against the bidder concerned as per law.He also directed officials to examine the role of officers and engineers involved in the tender process in such cases. If any irregularity is found in document verification or tender disposal, responsibility should be fixed and disciplinary and legal action initiated against the officials concerned, he said.Mishra said the department should develop a system under which all necessary documents are thoroughly verified before a tender is awarded, rather than dealing with complaints after the process is completed. He said the department would ensure strict compliance with prescribed rules and procedures at every stage of the tendering process to minimise the possibility of forged documents, irregularities and procedural complaints. The minister added ensuring a transparent tender process, timely decisions and clear accountability remained a priority of the govt, in line with chief minister Samrat Choudhary’s vision of transparent and accountable governance.
