Mohali: Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Jasvir Singh, posted at Sadar Police Station, Kharar, district Mohali, while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000. The VB spokesman said the accused was arrested on a complaint filed by a resident of Sector 127, Mohali. He added that the accused was the investigating officer in an assault case registered by the complainant against one Suman Lata. When the complainant approached the ASI to file a challan in court, he allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 bribe to do so. The complainant recorded the conversation. After preliminary inquiry, the VB team laid a trap and arrested the accused while he was accepting Rs 15,000 bribe from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against the accused at the Vigilance Bureau police station, Mohali. Further investigation is on.MSID:: 128118704 413 |
