Prayagraj: UP Board has issued a public advisory warning students and parents against cyber fraudsters who may try to exploit candidates whose answer sheets for the 2026 High School improvement and compartment examinations and the Intermediate compartment examination are currently being evaluated across the state.According to UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Singh, cybercriminals may contact candidates through phone calls, text messages or social media platforms, falsely claiming that they can increase marks in exchange for money. In some cases, the fraudsters may even pose as board employees and claim to have access to the board’s main database, he added.Singh clarified that the UP Board never contacts students individually regarding marks or results and urged candidates not to share personal information, roll numbers, passwords or banking details with unknown callers.The warning assumes significance as the answer sheets are currently being evaluated at centres across the state. The High School improvement examination and the Intermediate compartment examination were conducted on July 28 at 92 centres across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. This year, the board also introduced a digital evaluation system for the first time to make the process faster and more transparent.Board officials have advised students and parents to record suspicious calls and immediately inform the concerned district inspector of schools (DIOS). Complaints can also be lodged through the national cybercrime helpline, 1930.The board has also released the contact numbers of additional secretaries posted at its regional offices in Prayagraj, Meerut, Bareilly, Varanasi and Gorakhpur to enable students to promptly report such incidents.Officials said the board, with the assistance of the Uttar Pradesh Police, would initiate strict action against those involved in such crimes under the provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).The board has appealed to students and their families to remain vigilant and avoid falling prey to false promises, especially at a time when the evaluation process is underway and thousands of candidates are anxiously awaiting their results.
