Prayagraj: Evaluators checking papers for the 2026 UP Board exams are in for a tight scrutiny — any mistakes, and they will face hefty fines and maybe even get barred.In a warning to evaluation centres, the board has said: “Up to 2% errors, and evaluators will lose 85% of their honorarium and be out of the evaluation game for three years.”The board has said 50% of the honorarium will be deducted if errors of up to 1% are found during scrutiny. Discrepancies up to 0.5% will result in a deduction of 25% from the honorarium. The strict provisions have been introduced to ensure that the evaluation process remains accurate and free from negligence.Board secretary Bhagwati Singh has issued these directions to all deputy controllers, mainly principals heading the 250 evaluation centres where answer sheets will be checked. Officials said the evaluation of answer sheets for the 2026 board examinations will begin on Wednesday across the state.The board has also clarified that if any mistake is found in the evaluation of an answer sheet after the auditing or rechecking process, the responsibility will lie with the auditor concerned. Authorities said the audit mechanism has been put in place to ensure that the evaluation process remains transparent and that no student suffers due to carelessness or errors.In addition, the board has warned that any laxity in the evaluation or auditing process will invite action under the board’s rules and regulations, as well as the provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. Examiners have been directed to enter marks carefully, as overwriting or cutting in the marks column may not be accepted by the computerised system, which could result in the candidate’s result remaining incomplete.It has also laid down subject-wise arrangements for evaluation. High school social science and science answer sheets will be assessed through a panel system. In social science, the first section covering history and political science will be evaluated by graduate-trained examiners of those subjects. The second section relating to economics and geography will be checked by experts in those disciplines.In the case of science, the first section will be evaluated by BSc-trained examiners with physics specialisation. The second and third sections related to chemistry and biology will be assessed by subject experts.
