Rajkot: People watched in disbelief as a man suddenly stepped onto the Rajkot–Morbi highway and lay down in front of a moving truck, ending his life near Hadala village on Wednesday.The man was later identified as Jagdish Joshi, a native of Nepal. Preliminary investigations suggest that Joshi was under financial stress and struggling with depression after failing to find work.CCTV footage from a nearby restaurant captured the incident. The video shows the man, dressed in a black T-shirt and trousers, walking casually along the side of the highway while talking to another person. Suddenly, he steps onto the lane near the divider and lies down as a truck approaches. The truck driver attempts to swerve to avoid him, but it is too late and the vehicle runs over him.According to police, Joshi had arrived in Rajkot from Vadodara just four days earlier in search of employment. He was with a friend near Hadala village, reportedly looking for work, when the incident occurred.He was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.In a statement to locals before his death, Joshi reportedly said the truck driver was not at fault and that he had acted on his own. He also requested that no complaint be filed against the driver.
