Kanpur: Two people were killed, while another was seriously injured after two motorcycles collided head-on near Galuvapur village on the Derapur-Rura road in Kanpur Dehat on Sunday morning. Police said none of the riders were wearing helmets.The accident occurred around 7:30 am when Jayprakash (60), a resident of Baladipurwa village, was returning from Jalaun. Near a mango orchard in Galuvapur village, his motorcycle collided with another bike coming from the opposite direction. The second motorcycle was being ridden by Chintu Nayak (40), with Jagdev (23) riding pillion. Both were residents of Badanpur village under Rajpur police station limits and were returning after visiting their sister.After receiving information about the accident, police reached the spot and shifted the injured to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Derapur, where Jayprakash and Chintu Nayak were declared dead. Jagdev, who sustained critical injuries, was referred to a medical college.SHO Dhirendra Singh said the bodies had been sent for post-mortem examination and that the exact cause of the accident was being investigated.
