Kendrapada: Two persons were arrested on Wednesday in connection with an attempted murder case involving indiscriminate firing near Purbakote High School under Korei police station limits in Jajpur district. The incident took place on June 21 around 1:30pm when Aula Taro Rao (21) of Purbakote village, was travelling on a motorcycle along with Rajesh Das (24).On their way to Purbakote High School, they were allegedly chased by Arjun Pradhan (25) and Bhola Pradhan (26) of Rabana village under Jakhapura police station limits. Arjun was riding the motorcycle while Bhola was carrying a pistol. Near the school, Bhola opened fire and shot four rounds with the intention to kill them. Two bullets struck the motorcycle and both escaped unhurt. The accused reportedly threatened them before fleeing from the scene.Aula and Rajesh filed an FIR at the police station and alleged that the duo opened several rounds of fire at them but missed the target. Acting on the complaint, police launched a manhunt and nabbed both the accused from their hideouts. “We suspect that past enmity was the reason behind the incident. But the exact cause is being investigated. Police seized two pistols, one empty cartridge, two motor-cycles and two mobile phones from the accused. Both the accused were booked under BNS section 109 (attempt to murder) and section 27 of the Arms Act,” said IIC of Korei police station, Rakesh Tripathy. Both the accused were produced in the local court on Wednesday. The court rejected their bail applications and remanded them in judicial custody, added the police officer.
