Responding to Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s claim a day earlier that there’s a plot to remove Yadav from his post, Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari said at an AICC presser that he did not know the circumstances under which Akhilesh Yadav said so. “But it is evident that BJP people are active in this entire sequence, including in taking it (the Ujjain land controversy) to the press and social media. I agree with Akhilesh ji on this. Yet, the fact is corruption has taken place. The corrupt person has to resign or be removed…But even 30 hours after the expose, the BJP leadership is silent. Why? The only statement I heard from the state BJP leader is that the chief minister is an OBC. So what? I also belong to an OBC community.”

Patwari also referred to a recent local media report in Madhya Pradesh that claimed that land “worth ?500 crore was given (on lease for 30 years) for rupee one to a trust headed by CM Yadav’s cultural adviser”.

YADAV WON’T RESIGN: KHERA
Questioning why the primetime TV debates were silent on the issue involving the BJP chief minister and his family, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said, “Total silence in primetime debates! Why are you scared? Do you think this report would have been published without the permission of some senior minister? Please conduct a debate because this issue is linked to faith.” Khera said his hunch is that the CM won’t resign and pointed out how BJP’s chief minister in Arunachal Pradesh is still carrying on “despite the Supreme Court taking cognisance” of a land row involving him.
“What is common in these two CMs? They all are linked to the RSS,” he quipped, claiming that after the Ayodhya donation row and Ujjain land deals, it would be the turn of Mathura and Kashi to see scams in land projects.
