Chikkamagaluru: The mortal remains of Sreenandhana, who was found dead near Manikyadhara waterfalls here, were sent to her hometown in Kerala early on Saturday.Sreenandhana, who was with her family members on a trip to Chikkamagaluru, went missing on April 7. The girl was found dead near the waterfalls on Friday noon.The body was shifted to Araluguppe Mallegowda District Hospital and a postmortem was conducted. Later, the body was handed over to the family members, who shifted it to Palakkad in Kerala. They said the final rites were performed on Saturday at 1.45pm at the Pampady Ivormadom crematorium in Thiruvilwamala.According to police, initial medical examination indicated that Sreenandhana died from a severe head injury. Multiple wounds and bone fractures were found on various parts of her body.However, a police officer claimed the reason for her falling off the hill is yet to be ascertained, Police teams are investigating the case.Ramesh, the girl’s father, thanked the police and rescue teams for their efforts and also assured cooperation for further investigation.The family members continued to suspect foul play and said Sreenandhana had informed them that she had done well in her Class 10 exam, and there were no reasons to suspect that she could have committed suicide.
