Mysuru: Union minister for steel and heavy industries HD Kumaraswamy on Friday directed officials to immediately resolve land acquisition disputes related to National Highway 275 and secure the remaining properties required for the project.Presiding over the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting here, he cautioned that delays could slow down construction and urged authorities to act swiftly to ensure timely completion.Deputy commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy informed the meeting that nearly 60% of the work on National Highway 275 has been completed, with most of the land already handed over to the National Highways Authority of India. He said the remaining disputed stretches would be cleared with police protection. He also noted that the detailed project report (DPR) for the National Highway 266 diversion near Mysuru Airport is ready.Kumaraswamy emphasised that all centrally sponsored schemes must achieve 100% progress and reach intended beneficiaries without delay or irregularities.Raising concerns over banking services, the Union minister instructed Lead Bank Manager to ensure courteous treatment of customers. He warned against harassing first-time loan applicants by citing CIBIL scores as grounds to deny or delay loans. He also directed officials to conduct a comprehensive survey of siteless and homeless persons in the district and submit a report to the govt.Mysore MP Yaduveer Wadiyar urged authorities to plan development initiatives with the city’s long-term growth in mind and suggested promoting alternative crops to gradually reduce tobacco cultivation.Zilla panchayat CEO S Ukesh Kumar reported that Mysuru district exceeded its target under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, achieving 102% progress with 1.78 million man-days generated by March 2026.Chamarajanagar MP Sunil Bose, Hunsur MLA G.D. Harish Gowda, commissioner chief Seema Latkar and SP Mallikarjun Baladandi were present.
