Times News NetworkChandigarh: Family members of a woman who went missing on Feb 11 this year claim that a skeleton found in the bushes of Phase 1, Industrial Area, UT, belongs to her. Family members of Aarti, 21, a resident of Bapudham, saw a video of the recovery of a skeleton on social media and approached the police. Alleging that she had been murdered, the family members said police had not taken adequate action when they filed a missing complaint. They said Aarti left home on the morning of Feb 11, saying she would return shortly, but she never did. Instead of searching for her, police personnel allegedly said she was an adult and must have left on her own volition. Family members said they went to the Sector 26 police station on Feb 12, where the investigating officer allegedly asked them to wait for two to three days. The missing person report was filed only on Feb 17, they said. Meanwhile, the family kept searching for Aarti on their own but failed to trace her. They added that on watching the video on social media, they went to the Industrial Area police station. From there, police took them to the GMSH-16 mortuary, where they claimed to have identified the ring and clothes found at the spot. The kin, who insist on getting a murder FIR filed, said the body has not yet been handed over to them.According to them, they had informed the police that Aarti was seen near the Transport light point in a pick-up vehicle, but police neither checked CCTV camera footage nor sent her photo to other police stations. However, the actual identity of the remains depends on the CFSL report, which is awaited, police said. They added that they are examining footage of CCTV cameras installed in the surrounding areas and questioning people.MSID:: 130169015 413 |
