Patna: Three teenagers drowned while bathing in Baya river under Sahebganj police station area of Muzaffarpur district on Saturday. However, a fourth youth survived after managing to swim to safety.The deceased were identified as Amrit Kumar, 14, son of Guddu Sah; Sahil alias Jhunnu, 12, son of Manoj Sah; and Mohammad Rehan, 13, son of Mohammad Ainul. The teenager who survived was identified as Guddu, 13, son of Mohammad Munna.The incident occurred in front of Baidyanathpur Shiv Mandir on the banks of Baya river. As soon as news of the incident spread, a large number of villagers gathered at the spot. Locals searched the river for over two hours and, after a strenuous effort, pulled out the bodies of the three teenagers.

They were taken to Sahebganj Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared all three dead.Sahebganj SHO Sunil Kumar reached the spot with a police team soon after receiving information and took stock of the situation.Sahebganj SHO Sunil Kumar said, “All four teenagers, residents of Mahavirsthan Ward No. 8, went to bathe in Baya river on Saturday afternoon. While in the water, they entered a deep section of the river. Guddu somehow managed to swim to safety, while the other three were swept away and drowned.”
