Hyderabad: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by three of her relatives, including her uncle and two stepbrothers, over the past few months in Keesara. The abuse came to light after the girl confided in a schoolteacher, who alerted the police. All three accused have been arrested.According to Keesara police, they received information from the schoolteacher on Thursday that the girl had been allegedly raped by her uncle and two stepbrothers on different occasions. The girl was immediately shifted to the Bharosa centre where her statement was recorded, and was later sent for a medical examination.Based on the girl’s complaint, police registered a case under the Pocso Act and section 65(1) (rape of a girl below 16 years) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the three accused.

After learning that police were searching for them, the accused fled Keesara, triggering a manhunt. One of the stepbrothers, aged 21, was arrested in Wanaparthy on Friday night, while the 30-year-old uncle and the 19-year-old stepbrother were apprehended in Latur, Maharashtra, on Saturday morning.Police said the girl’s parents died by suicide a few years ago, following which she had been living with her grandmother in Keesara while studying at a local high school.“During the girl’s holiday breaks, her uncle and two stepbrothers raped her on separate occasions,” said a senior police officer. The abuse surfaced after the girl told the teacher at her school about pain in her private parts and the alleged sexual assaults by her relatives, police said.Keesara Inspector A Anjaneyulu said the arrested accused would be produced before a magistrate for judicial remand.
