T’puram: Kovalam police arrested three persons on Monday in connection with the attempt to murder of Dileep Kumar, a native of Kovalam, near Karinkaali Devi Temple in the early hours of Thursday.The accused have been identified as Sarath (30) of Venganur, and Vizhinjam natives Vishnu (32) and Rajesh (32).According to police, the incident occurred around midnight when the accused allegedly attacked Kumar following a personal enmity. The victim sustained injuries in the assault and was later shifted for medical treatment. Police said the attack was carried out by the group as part of a pre-planned attempt to eliminate him.The arrests were made by Kovalam police under the supervision of Fort assistant commissioner Manoj Kumar, Kovalam SHO Arun Kumar and SI Sudheesh. The team tracked the accused following a probe based on local intelligence and statements from witnesses.Police said Kumar is also an accused in another case, and the attack is suspected to have been triggered by earlier disputes between him and the accused.All three accused were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.Police officials added that the first accused, Sarath, had earlier been arrested by Kovalam police in connection with a similar criminal case. Further investigation into the incident is under way.
