Times News NetworkKanpur: Police arrested three accused within 48 hours for allegedly robbing a scooter-riding youth of Rs 17,000 and a mobile phone in the Rawatpur police station area on the pretext of asking address, and recovered Rs 4,550 of the looted cash, an Aadhaar card, a PAN card and other documents from them.The incident took place on the night of July 22 near Sai temple at Double Puliya on GT Road, where the miscreants stopped the victim, Amit Mishra, a resident of Vijay Nagar Kakadeo, while he was returning home at around 9.30 pm after finishing work.Mishra said he worked in sales at a private engineering company. He said that after he stopped near Sai temple, one miscreant pushed him and took over the scooter’s driving seat, while two accused sat behind him and one other followed on a bike.Police said the accused covered the victim’s eyes and mouth, took him to the Karbala area of Rawatpur, assaulted him and, threatening to kill him, snatched the Rs 17,000 kept in his pocket along with his mobile phone before fleeing.After the incident, the victim reached Rawatpur police station and lodged a complaint against unknown miscreants, following which police registered a case and examined footage from CCTV cameras installed around the spot.On Friday afternoon, police arrested three accused, Akash Pandey, Gyanu Kashyap and Anshu Dubey, all residents of Kachchi Madaiya Jaiprakash Nagar, from near Shiv temple close to Karbala Maidan.During questioning, the police said the accused admitted that history-sheeter Paras Awasthi was also involved in the crime with them. Rawatpur police station in-charge Kamlesh said that the three have been sent to jail and police teams are conducting raids in search of absconding history-sheeter Paras.
