Ahmedabad: Satellite police have registered an FIR on a two-wheeler’s theft from an apartment building’s parking area a decade after the incident. The complainant, a 43-year-old, approached police only on March 28 to report the theft of her two-wheeler in 2016. The woman told police she had parked her scooter in the parking area of her residential building near Shyamal Crossroads on Dec 31, 2016. The vehicle was missing when she returned in the evening. She could not trace it in the vicinity and did not file a formal complaint.Inspector V J Chaudhary of Satellite police said that the FIR was registered after a breakthrough in another case. “The accused was recently detained by the city crime branch in connection with other offences. During interrogation, he confessed to multiple thefts, including this incident. Based on his disclosure, we registered the complaint,” he said.Police added that the case has been registered the Indian Penal Code, as the offence dates back to 2016. The stolen vehicle, now valued at around Rs 15,000, is yet to be recovered.
