Gandhinagar: Deputy chief minister Harsh Sanghavi on Sunday held a meeting with representatives of various industries of South Gujarat in Surat to discuss issues related to workers and gas supply. The meeting was attended by representatives of industry associations of Surat, Ankleshwar, Vapi, and Bharuch, govt said.Sanghavi said at the meeting that currently there is an adequate supply of essential items like gas, petrol, and diesel in the state. “Supply is being managed according to the central govt’s guidelines in light of the West Asia crisis,” he said, adding that the state govt has been prioritising conversion of LPG connections to PNG. The minister said that the meeting was held to quell fears among workers as a result of rumours. Sanghavi said that various arrangements for accommodation and meals for workers are being made by industries in areas like Pandesara, Vapi, Ankleshwar, and Dahej. He added that govt is making arrangements to ensure workers receive 5kg LPG cylinders in sufficient quantities. “People are advised not to believe misleading information or rumours spread on social media and to verify any information with the govt. Criminal charges will be filed against those who forward misleading information,” the deputy CM said. Sanghavi said that strict action is being taken against those involved in the black marketing of gas, petrol-diesel, or essential commodities. He added that special teams have been set up to monitor any irregularities in this regard.
