The tenure of the MPTC and ZPTC elected bodies ended in June 2024, leaving the local institutions without elected representatives for several months. While Congress leaders dismissed as baseless rumours that the govt was considering abolishing the MPTC and ZPTC system altogether, officials neither confirmed nor denied any such move.
