Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao urged the State Election Commission (SEC) to conduct elections for the chairpersons of the Kyathanpally, Ibrahimpatnam, and Khanapur municipalities in a democratic manner, under the supervision of senior officials and with CCTV surveillance. He alleged that some police officials were acting worse than Congress workers.“We will not forget those who committed wrongdoings and will ensure they face consequences. Our MLA, Adivasi child Kova Lakshmi, was also falsely charged. Her only mistake was working honestly for the party and respecting the people’s democratic verdict. Every person filing false cases will face punishment in the coming days,” KTR said.Addressing the media in Adilabad after visiting former MLA Balka Suman, who was arrested in connection with the violence in Kyatanpally and lodged in Adilabad jail on Tuesday, KTR said that despite alleged malpractices by Congress and BJP during the municipal elections across the state, the people had taught them a lesson. He accused the Congress of threatening, intimidating, and attacking party candidates. The entire state witnessed the chaos and misdeeds of the Congress in various municipalities, which, he said, mocked the people’s verdict.“In Mancherial’s Kyathanpally municipality, even though our party won 10 seats and our ally CPI won four seats, taking the total to 14, the Congress engaged in chaos to seize power. Despite winning only seven out of 22 seats, the Congress displayed an undemocratic thirst for power,” he said. KTR added that the BRS would fight the allged illegal cases in the courts and that the party has complete faith in the judiciary. Later, he visited the IT tower in Adilabad. Former ministers Jogurammanna, Vemula Prashant Reddy, and others accompanied KTR.
