HYDERABAD: Chief Justice of Telangana High Court Aparesh Kumar Singh has called on the judiciary to rededicate to the ideals that inspired the freedom movement, by reaffirming the unwavering faith in the Constitution and strengthening the institutions that safeguard democracy. “Let us work together in the spirit of unity, compassion and shared commitment to serve the people of India and the State of Telangana,” the CJ said during the 80th Independence Day celebration at the Telangana High Court.The CJ said Telangana High Court has disposed of 88.56% of the cases that were instituted during the last one year, emphasising that the collective effort of the Bench and the Bar can only ensure qualitative and speedy disposal of cases, while also seeking the continuous support and cooperation of the Bar in discharging its sacred duty.The CJ also detailed significant initiatives in the judiciary aimed at strengthening the eco-system of the judiciary of Telangana State this year, both in terms of physical infrastructure, human resources and technology, including laying the foundation stone for Zone II of the new High Court building complex at Rajendra Nagar, which has achieved approximately 20.25% progress against the projected 24.44%.Among other initiatives is an MoU with the School Education Department to promote legal awareness among school students and teachers on child-related laws and access to justice, as part of which 1,753 school teachers were trained in child-related laws, especially with regard to Good Touch and Bad Touch.Over 500 girl students participated in the 2K run to promote awareness on the rights, dignity and protection of the girl child. A sensitisation programme towards ‘Road Suraksha Abhiyan’ was conducted across the State of Telangana on road safety and traffic rules. Further, for the first time, Cricket, Volleyball and Badminton (for both women and men) tournaments were conducted for the officers and staff of the High Court, and the same would be held regularly every year, added the CJ.Highlighting the tech initiatives in the judiciary, the CJ said the e-filing and other digital court services were expanded across the High Court and District judiciary. Generation and electronic transmission of criminal processes (e-Summons) were enabled through the NSTEP Portal integrated with ICJS, facilitating instant transmission to the Police Department through CCTNS and electronic acknowledgement by Courts.Integration of NCCIS 4.0 with e-Prisons and Telangana Police CCTNS/e-Police through ICJS enabled seamless electronic exchange of criminal justice information, including e-FIRs, e-Charge Sheets, CNRs, e-Summons, and prisoner information.While the event saw participation of Judges of Telangana High Court, retired judges of the Supreme Court and High Court, members of the Bar, Bar Council of Telangana Chairman A. Narsimha Reddy, Advocate General A. Sudarshan Reddy, and High Court Bar Association President Surender Reddy also addressed the gathering, after which the CJ distributed awards to High Court staff children who topped in their academics.
