Hyderabad: Citing a shortage of functional equipment that is causing hardship to patients, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday urged health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha to take immediate steps to provide new digital X-ray machines at Osmania General Hospital (OGH).In a letter to the minister, which Owaisi posted on X, he said OGH, which caters to a large number of poor and economically weaker patients, was facing serious difficulties due to old and non-functional X-ray equipment.“Patients requiring X-ray investigations are being sent to Gandhi Hospital, resulting in unnecessary movement, delays in diagnosis and treatment, and additional expenditure for patients and their attendants,” he said.Owaisi said the problem was particularly serious for elderly patients, emergency cases and seriously ill patients who depend on govt healthcare facilities. The MP said the requirement for four new machines – one 800 mA digital X-ray machine, preferably with fluoroscopy, one 500 mA machine and two 200 mA machines – had already been identified.
