Hyderabad: Telangana is aiming to become a major hub for health innovation by integrating its strengths in information technology, emerging technologies, pharmaceuticals, life sciences and start-ups with healthcare, IT and industries minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said on Monday.
Inaugurating the national conference Homa CME 2026 at T-Hub in Hyderabad, organised on the theme ‘Beyond Numbers – Precision Phenotyping in Diabetes and Metabolic Care’, the minister said technology could improve healthcare delivery and help address emerging public health challenges.
He said the state govt was building an ecosystem linking doctors, researchers, technology firms, life sciences institutions and start-ups to develop and scale healthcare solutions.
The minister said that greater collaboration between medical professionals, researchers and tech companies could help translate new ideas into practical healthcare solutions and strengthen Telangana’s capacity for health innovation.
Referring to the rising incidence of diabetes and metabolic disorders, he said changing lifestyles were adding to the burden and stressed early identification of chronic conditions. Data and technology, he said, could complement conventional medical treatment.
Sridhar Babu said the govt would support innovations targeting healthcare challenges and urged doctors, researchers, institutions and companies to partner with it to strengthen public healthcare.
He also released a book ‘BP: The New Paradigm’, authored by physician Dr Muddu Surendra Nehru, and launched ‘Metric Explorer’, a free metabolic calculator app that helps assess metabolic health parameters.
Under a proof-of-concept initiative, the free protocol will be offered to 50 selected patients from govt hospitals in a bid to examine the application of a precision-based approach to metabolic care.
