Amritsar: Although Tehran came under heavy bombardment during the US-led strikes, the Bhai Ganga Singh Sabha Gurdwara remained unaffected.Local social activist and educationist Dr N A Soufi said on Monday that civilian neighbourhoods were not targeted in the ongoing action. “The gurdwara and nearby localities are safe,” he said. Most Indo-Iranians currently in India said they were unable to obtain updated information due to poor telephone and internet connectivity in Iran. However, they maintained that civilian areas were largely spared. Bhupinder Singh, director of Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport in Amritsar, said 12 flights were cancelled following the closure of Iranian airspace, including routes to Sharjah and Doha.
