Jalandhar: A Class 12 student died by suicide inside a govt school in Noorpur village of Jalandhar on Monday after allegedly being accused of theft by a teacher.As per preliminary inquiry, the student had gone to school to collect her roll number when a teacher found some money missing, and accused her of stealing it, said Kartarpur DSP Narinder Singh.“The girl became mentally stressed. She used another teacher’s phone to contact her family. The teacher concerned also spoke with her father and clarified that another student had taken the money and the initial allegation was unfounded,” the DSP said.However, the student locked herself in a room on the school premises. Some school staff saw this and alerted her family members even as they tried to break open the door. By the time they could enter the room, she had hanged herself. She was taken to hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.The DSP said that a detailed and impartial inquiry is on to ascertain all the facts and circumstances leading to the unfortunate incident.
