Kanpur: A teenager drowned while he, along with his two friends, had gone to bath in the Ganga at Parmat Ghat in Gwaltoli police station area on Monday afternoon.Three friends had gone for bath in the Ganga when two them started drowning. People in the vicinity raised an alarm after which local divers jumped into the river and managed to rescue one of them. However, the other drowned.Gwaltoli police arrived at the spot and launched a search for the teenager with the help of divers. Police also informed his family.The teen left home at 3pm with his friends for Green Park when the youth suggested going to Parmat Ghat for a bath, his friends told the police.Two of them started crossing the Ganga on foot to reach the other side, while the third followed them. Suddenly, two of them started drowning. They raised an alarm after which divers pulled one of them, but the other drowned. After 30 minutes of effort, the youth’s body was fished out.ACP Colonelganj Chitranshu said the matter was being investigated.
