New Delhi: Ahead of AI Summit, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Saturday reviewed the preparations, checking multiple aspects, from operational readiness to aesthetic enhancements. The summit, scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam from Feb 16 to 20, will draw international delegates, policymakers and industry leaders. The council’s Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) will function in coordination with Delhi Traffic Police and other agencies to monitor VIP movement, identify congestion points and prevent traffic snarls during the event.NDMC vice-chairman Kuljeet Chahal said the civic body was working in alignment with the summit’s theme, Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya — welfare for all, happiness for all. After visiting the control room, Chahal said, “In all, 333 NDMC, 183 Delhi Police and 214 PWD CCTV cameras are integrated with ICCC for round-the-clock surveillance in Lutyens’ Delhi. A dedicated traffic hotline is set up for smooth movement.”Senior Delhi Police officers, including joint commissioner, New Delhi Range, Deepak Purohit, and NDMC officials explained highlights of events. Chahal said that through the CCTV network, various NDMC services and civic operations would also be continuously monitored for prompt resolution.“To be doubly sure that all sanitation and service vehicles are working effectively, they will be tracked through GPS,” he added. “There are 959 RFID-enabled bins, 10 jetting machines, 12 mechanical road sweepers, eight anti-smog guns and 14 water tankers. Each vehicle’s route, distance and activity will be monitored to ensure bins are cleaned and vehicles are following dedicated routes. Alerts will be generated if any vehicle exits NDMC limits.” At least 99 hotspots have been identified at hotels, markets and high-footfall areas, where garbage will be collected multiple times every day. The sites fall on the routes of delegates, who may also visit these markets. For environmental safety, 20 air quality sensors have been installed . They will monitor six to eight parameters and generate alerts in case of any abnormality.“All complaints received through the NDMC 311 app, phone calls and websites will be centrally monitored at ICCC and automatically routed to the officials concerned, with real-time status updates,” said officials. Chahal added that 24×7 staffing had been deployed at ICCC to mitigate complaints in a time-bound manner. While a large-scale beautification drive is underway, with over 15,000 decorative plants, 4,000 hanging baskets, 15 floral boards featuring AI-themed logos and 23 floral fountains, a tulip festival is also scheduled at Shanti Path during the summit. All 41 major roads are being upgraded with new signage, road markings, footpaths, streetlighting and safety devices, while prominent buildings and junctions are being illuminated.
