Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee has appointed noted Dalit thinker and author HL Dusadh as chairman of its Vichar Vibhag (ideology department) on Thursday.The appointment was made following the recommendation of AICC general secretary in charge of Uttar Pradesh Avinash Pandey and approved by state Congress president Ajay Rai.An official spokesperson said Dusadh, born in 1963 in UP’s Deoria district, spent over three decades in West Bengal, where he shaped his intellectual and professional journey.In 1990, he proposed a television serial on the life and struggles of BR Ambedkar to Doordarshan. However, after failing to secure approval, he left a corporate job in 1997 to dedicate himself fully to writing and the Bahujan movement.Since 2000, Dusadh has focused his work on the theme of diversity, delivering lectures at institutions such as BHU, JNU and other universities.His writings have appeared in several leading Hindi newspapers, and he is regarded as a prominent voice on issues of social and economic inequality.Often referred to as the ‘Diversity Man of India,’ Dusadh has authored multiple volumes, including annual diversity yearbooks and a series on contemporary socio-economic challenges.He is also the founder of the Bahujan Diversity Mission, which advocates equitable representation across economic, political and social spheres.Party leaders said his appointment would strengthen ideological engagement and policy thinking in the state unit.
