Hyderabad: Five days after his wife died by suicide at their home in Karimnagar, a sub-inspector allegedly died by suicide at his in-laws’ house in Seethampeta village during her fifth-day ceremony on Saturday. The deceased, Chandrasekhar, 36, was posted at Karimnagar II Town police station.Police said Chandrasekhar’s wife, Divya, 32, consumed crushed oleander seeds on March 17 after reportedly suffering severe stomach pain. She died on Tuesday night at a private hospital in Hyderabad while undergoing treatment.Based on a complaint by Divya’s father, Narsaiah, Karimnagar I Town police registered a case under Section 194 (suspicious death) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) on Wednesday.During Divya’s funeral in Seethampeta village of Ellanthakunta mandal on Wednesday, some relatives allegedly blamed Chandrasekhar, claiming she died due to his harassment. Police personnel present at the funeral intervened and prevented any untoward incident. Chandrasekhar had reportedly been staying at his in-laws’ house for the past two days.On Saturday morning, he attended Divya’s fifth-day ceremony at the village burial ground along with family members. After returning home, Chandrasekhar went into a room after taking a bath. When he did not come out for a long time, his younger brother Satwik, a reserve inspector from Siddipet, grew suspicious and knocked on the door.“As Chandrasekhar did not respond, Satwik and other relatives broke open the latch and found him hanging. He was rushed to a private hospital in Jammikunta, where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” said Huzurabad ACP Madhavi.Police said no suicide note was found. On a complaint by Satwik, Ellanthakunta police registered another case under Section 194 of the BNSS. Chandrasekhar and Divya were married in 2016 and are survived by two sons, aged eight and six. Police registered a case.
