Namakkal: A stray dog bit a woman early on Monday morning in Paramathi Velur panchayat in Namakkal district, triggering commotion in the locality.The incident took place when the woman arrived at a dance training centre in Paramathi Velur on a two-wheeler. The woman screamed for help, but it was in vain. Fellow motorists tried to chase the dog away, but their efforts failed. A while later, the dog was forcibly pulled away from the woman, who was by then covered in blood. She was rushed to a nearby hospital by ambulance, where her condition is said to be stable.Meanwhile, locals pointed out that the number of stray dogs in the panchayat is increasing rapidly, with residents saying the dogs are a threat especially to school students, women, elderly people and motorists on the roads.
